We have recently been informed about the planned implementation of Value Added Tax (VAT) on non-life insurance premiums, effective 1st July 2025, as introduced under the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act, 2023 (Act 1107).

The FERMA Forum, the leading European event for the risk management community in Europe, is set to bring more than 2,000 risk and insurance professionals to Madrid from October 20 – 22, 2024.

The draft legislation or rather bills are currently up for debate.

At present, one assumes that the introduction of the laws will be delayed by a few months, but they will at least be implemented in 2025.

The compensation system for natural catastrophes (“CatNat” in French) enables the indemnification of victims of natural events of abnormal intensity, which are not covered by regular property insurance policies. These include in particular floods, earthquakes and hurricanes, but not fires, storms, hail and snowfall, as these risks are already covered by the regular insurance policies.

Despite the challenging conditions, more than 170 attendees from over 30 countries gave their time to attend the event in NYC with many of our network partners tuning in for the livestream.

We are back on the international terrain and are looking forward to connecting with you at this year's Steadfast Convention from 20 - 22 March in Adelaide as well as at RIMS annual conference hosted in San Francisco from 10 - 13 April 2022.
